Clay brick is manufactured from 100% natural product and has a long life expectancy. Once reclaimed, the product can be reused or crushed down and recycled back into the manufacturing processes to minimise waste, thereby improving its environmental credentials.
Initially there is significant energy used to manufacture the brick, however this is offset against the overall life term of the product. Brick attributes include their high thermal mass and low conductivity which contribute to the overall efficiency and insulation of the building fabric.
At Buildbase we work closely with our brick manufacturers to provide for the environmental and sustainability needs of our customers. We also ensure that our suppliers demonstrate a continuous improvement in their environmental credentials, to minimise their impact upon the environment.

Thermalite not only contains up to 80% recycled materials, but is also the first block to receive a Certified Environmental Profile and Ecopoints score from the BRE (Building Research Establishment), achieving an “A” rating in the Green Guide to Specification.
